Cough medicine? Help!!!

I've been sick since Christmas. Went to the doctor, they did all tests, even a chest X-ray, and it's just a virus. I cannot stop coughing. It hurts so bad! What is the BEST cough medicine?

Dehistine DH Elixor. It contains codeine, so you'll have to have ID & ask the pharmacist to get it for you. It'll stop a coughing fit in its tracks.

As far as I know. I've gotten it at Walmart pharmacy & Walgreens.

When I had bronchitis last year, the doctor gave me some cough medicine. Was supposed to help make me sleepy too. It kind of helped with the cough, but didn't make me tired. We usually use Delsym.

I have. It's been a while, though. That may have changed. But, as of about 9 years ago, yes.

I just ran down, the pharmacist said he never heard of it lol. He said there's nothing available over the counter with codeine anymore, booooo! He did find me something with benzocaine though, which works well for me.

No :( The pharmacist said he never even heard of it and there are none available over the counter with codeine.
