Fact about epidurals

Until recently epidurals were not offered in my local hospital unless you needed a c-section.
Our only pain medication options were the oxygen mask and fentanyl through a pump.
Honestly, I liked it that way. I did my first labour with pain meds and my second two with nothing.
I am now due with #4 in June and the onurses and doctor are being told to not offer me the epidural. I want NOTHING to do with it.

ETA- I clearly know there is no facts about epidurals, I just used an attention grabbing title.
I also never said that other women shouldn't have the option. This post was to share a personal experience regarding labour.

Your point?
I obviously know this, it just wasn't an option at my local hospital.

It's not good. Unfortunately doctors tell their patients that epidurals are safe and don't affect the baby when in reality the baby is also getting an adult dosage of the medications. This creates a drowsy baby, non active, bad feeder, etc. there is also very large risk involved with the epidural but it is played off as being safe. Doctors like to make money from the pharmaceutical companies!

Ps: good for you going natural!

The hospital I gave birth in, doesn't offer them unless you ask... I was 9cm dilated when coming into the hospital with my first, so it wasn't even an option... with my twins though, I had a jerk for an OB who tried to push an epi a few times, and that annoyed me to no end, however generally multiple births are treated differently, it was my first and last experience with an OB thank gawd...

Loved my epidurals. Had one with all 4 deliveries, isn't great that we have a choice.

I'm done having children but were I to give birth to more, I wouldn't chose a hospital that refused epidurals.  Thankfully, I live in an area with a large number of great hospitals.

At my local hospital you're not even allowed to have a baby, so I win. Your epidural hardship is nothing. We have a lot of roadside births around here.
