Is it possible to never go into labor? UPDATE! Again!

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post
With all 3 of my previous pregnancies I was induced. This time around I did a full 360. I am doing a home birth this interventions whatsoever. I am very excited BUT I'm starting to worry. I'm worrying/wondering if my body is even capable of going into labor on it's own. I am 42 weeks tomorrow. No signs of labor at all. I haven't had a single contraction this entire pregnancy. I am getting very nervous. this possible? I do not have a doctor, just a midwife (who still seems hopeful). If I don't go into labor soon and needed an induction could I still go to the hospital and get one without ever seeing a doc? Are they gonna treat me different?

UPDATE: So I just finished having sex and when I stood up my water broke. It is nice and clear! Lol no contractions yet, but I'm sure they will follow soon! omg this is happening. I guess all I needed to do was post to cm! Lmao

Aahhh! Wish me luck!

Baby Elizabeth Liliana was born at 12:37 am weighing 8lb3oz 21in long. Labor was quick and easy. I honestly didn't feel a single contraction until around 7-8 cm. midwife says I was most likely having them before my water broke but I just didn't feel them.

Thank you everyone for the encouraging words!
Will try to post pics soon!

I was induced all three times. The first, I was 42 weeks 2 days before induction. The second I was induced on the due date because of low amniotic fluid. The 3rd I was induced 3 days before due date because of low amniotic fluid.

I think so. I was induced then ended up having a c-section. I dilated fully but my daughter never came down into the birth canal.

I went in days after my daughter was born and was treated fine.

Mostly people were in awe that i could do it.

Yes it is. I saw on the discovery channel where the baby died and like 40 years later a doctor came and took the baby out, it happened someplace like India. The mom stayed looking pregnant all those years, the fetus was calcified looking like a mummy.

sometimes your due date is off, did you get all the ultrasounds and stuff? did you measure big or small?

I ead induced purely out of dr.convenience. Which is a big reason I wanted to do it on my own this time.
I was induced every time at 38 weeks.

I'd be really nervous if I were you.  If you've been induced every time before, didn't you think maybe you should at least see a real ob at some point these past 9 months?  A midwife is not a medical doctor, and her being *hopeful* doesn't sound all that encouraging to me.  I'm an RN, and yes a doctor will of course see you at the hospital should you require it.  Some people no doubt will say oh yes of course you will go into labor on your own, but no way I'd risk my child's, or my life just waiting and being *hopeful*.  Good luck.

I never dilated past a 3 no matter how much they tried to induce me and never had any contractions or anything

Yes you can go to the hospital without ever seeing a doctor. There are plenty of people who do. You might get questioned as to why, but explain you had a midwife. When I had my 4th child I had a doctor up in till I was about 7 months pregnant and my insurance said they would no longer pay because he was a specialist. No doctor would take me that far along. So I went without care for the last and important time. The lady at the insurance company felt so bad she would call me on a daily basis to see how I was doing. It was awful I had to go through the emergency dept. and get some rude comments from some nurses. After I told them the situation they finally shut there mouths. The last ultrasound I had my baby was breach do they did a quick ultrasound to make sure she turned cause I never felt it. Everything turned out fine in the end.

Have you tried to induce labour yourself yet?

I have never been able to carry out a full pregnancy, but being induced, can you still have a medication free labor?
