Should they have stitched this up? GRAPHIC PIC updated pic page 16

My boyfriend has surgery to remove a boil and this is what it looks like 5 days later, shouldn't they have stitched that up? They told him to wear a pad in his underwear to collect any blood and anything else but should it just be open like that.

The boil was on his lower right butt cheek. He knows I posted the picture, all he asked was that I crop his nut sack out and not to show his face. He's been reading the responses along with me.

They packed it the day he had the surgery but told him to remove the packing 2 days later and he has an appointment to see the surgeon on the 10th. We were just concerned because of the size, which is about the size of a golfball that there should be more aftercare. They just said keep a pad in his pants to collect the stuff.

Hes also in a considerable amount of pain, they gave him Vicodin but he says the pain is like when you get a blister and pop it and then touch the skin underneath. That burning feeling is what he feels and it hurts to sit.

Nope they do not stitch them up. They pack them with this stuff and tape them.

It needs to heal from the inside out. I'm surprised they didn't pack it and have him change the dressing every day.

If they stitched it, the infection could spread, vs leaving it open to drain and such....

im pretty sure they know what they're doing
