Can you work in a medical office in which you are/were a patient?

I'm job searching and came across an office manager position at my OB/GYN office. I'm qualified for it and I love the people there. I'd LOVE to work at the office. But I wonder, is there an industry standard that says a patient cannot work in the same office? I've never worked in the medical industry (they are looking for someone strictly accounting/office) and so I'm not sure if its even POSSIBLE for me to work there. I'd call and ask, but it's a holiday. Just wondering if anyone knew. Thanks, ladies!

I did, for many years, I would imagine it depends on the preferences of the doctor/doctors.
