I dont understand why moms on all these types of government assistance are all SAHMs??? I believe people should be taking govt assistance as a last resort. Not taking it just because they dont want to work. I really dont get why you wouldnt be working or at least getting an education.

ETA. i am a sahm. We are not on any govt assistance, but i have previously been on it for a few months about 6 years ago. If we could no longer afford me to be a sahm i would be working.

A lot of poor people enjoy where they are in life and are content with being there.  So they're not going to work to make a better life and they're going to continue to make bad choices.

I have an aunt who has five kids and is a sahm. Her husband got into an accident that nearly killed him and instead of her getting a job she asked for aid and even got money from the family. When asked why she didn't get a job, she said she was too good to work. Smdh.

I agree. Sadly people seem to be okay with not having anything and letting their kids grow up with someone else taking care of them. Sad really.

I'm a SAHM with a disabled child. Regardless of my degree, no one is going to hire me or keep me as an employee because of multiple specialists and therapist appointments. We're on PA to make ends meet.

I remember getting laid off years ago and using unemployment. I did not consider myself a sahm, I considered myself unemployed. I was on a constant job hunt.

Because they don't want someone else to raise their child. Yet they rely on the government to feed them. So fucking stupid.

I just heard somewhere that government entitlements add up to about $50,000 a year for single mothers. Why on earth would people be motivated to get a job. I busted my butt, went to college and earned a master's degree and I would be better off divorcing my husband, quitting my job, and going on welfare. I would be in a better position. Hardly seems fair.
