Is this legal what my Employer is doing?

We get paid every other week on Tuesdays.

UPS delivers our checks. UPS didnt run today.

We have to wait until tomorrow to get paid and one of my coworkers said that this was illegal.

I was wondering how true this is?? The pay period ends on the Wednesday before the Tuesday we are paid (so we technically already wait 6 days for checks, now it's a full week).

TYPICAL CM DISCLAIMER- I dont CARE that I have to wait an extra day. Im only asking because my coworker made that claim it was "illegal" and I couldnt see how it could be since it's not even the employers fault.

I highly doubt it. I do not think a delivery service not working in a holiday is your employers fault.

Your employer doesn't control the mail. I'm sure the checks were issued on time, and that's what they're liable for.

I don't know. If our payday falls on a holiday, we get paid the day before

Yes its legal.
If you were to get a check at the office and were closed, you would have to wait until the next day to get your check.
If you were to have direct deposit, the check most likely wouldn't deposit until tomorrow.

eta: some places pay you before but many don't.

And also its very common to be paid the following week. My husbands pay period ends on the Saturday before we get our check on Friday of the following week.
