Day one... (kind of long)

Day one of dh and my New Year's resolution:  quit smoking.

Yeah, yeah, I know - no one ever sticks with their New Year's resolutions.  However, I have finally convinced the hubs to do this with me (we have a five month of ds now, so it's very important for us now), and I'll be damned if we don't at least try!

So anyway... I went off the psycho deep-end at one point this evening.

Back tracking - I began smoking for the most  ridiculous reason ever.  My ex husband (who, it turns out, I was never married to to begin with... long story) gave me a set of rules before we were separated (he got orders to Okinawa, I got orders to North Carolina):  don't cut my hair, don't drink, don't get tattoos, and don't smoke.  Well, after I found out he was getting his rank taken away for adultery, guess what I did?  All of the above.

Fast forward to today.  I was perusing Facebook via mobile after I put ds down for a nap, and I stumbled across a post made by a slut from North Carolina on my husband's wall . I'm not just calling her a slut because I don't want my man to talk to other women - she's a legitimate slut.  She's a stripper, she owns her own porn and fetish company, and she does all of it because, and I quote, "I do it because it pays the bills and it excites me.  Sexually.  Something has to - God knows my boyfriend doesn't do it for me anymore!".  Not to mention the fact that she and I USED to be friends until she drunkenly admitted to me (while I was pregnant) that she wanted to screw my man's brains out, and probably could, since I was "fat and preggers".

Normally, Facebook bullshit doesn't bother me - that's why it didn't bother me in the past that he was still "friends" with this chick.  He rarely goes on facebook, and he has even said he is LONG overdue for a friend overhaul.  My sister (a psychiatrist) thinks there is some sort of link between my sensitivity to this particular thing coupled with my smoking "trigger", and my lack of smoking made it extremely difficult to cope with the situation.

Still, I went nuts and, of course, I did the moronic thing and took it out on dh.  We made up shortly after, because he's running hot and cold today as well, but I still feel bad.  As soon as I get my new insurance card, I'm going to check to see if they cover counseling.  Some extra support right now wouldn't hurt.

Now I'm experiencing physical hot and cold chills with some nausea.  I'm wondering if it's withdrawl or just a flu bug coming on.  I'm hoping for the former - at least that's not contagious!

Anyone else making this their resolution?  Let's support each other!

I started smoking pretty much the same reason. My ex who is in the AF hates it and I hate him and to signify that he fucked our marriage up while he was on a TDY in Texas with another members wife. I started smoking. We ended the marriage about 6 months later. You are going to have your mood swings. I will tell you this. The nicotine subs help SO much along with candy and things to keep your mouth satisfied. Kept my bitch attacks to a min. LOL

Keep at it mama.

Thanks!  This is just day one, and I'm sure it'll only get worse before it gets better, but it'll be worth it, I'm sure!

Thanks for the info... I thought I was going nuts!  I keep asking dh if it's hot or it's cold - it hasn't hit him (yet), but then again, I smoked more than he did.

My cravings started going away about 5-6 weeks after I quit...

It will get worse before it gets better.

Thanks, but I tried those at one point, a couple of years ago... they made me break out in horrible hives, and they made my heart race!  Thank you, though!

Good luck...my Dh has to go overseas for a year and after he leaves Im going to attempt to quit. I have an 8 month old, 3 and 5 year olds...3 perfectly good reasons to give it up. Ive been smoking since I was like 12 or 13, so its gonna be a bit harder for me!
