no more light up shoes!

I.dropped my kids off at school and my daughter wore her new twinkle toe shoes. Anyway the principal said she liked them then told me the board is thinking about adding them to the not allowed list because during a in place drill the teachers must turn lights off. Should a shooter be in school, a moving child with light up shoes would be a easy find.

She said its just being talked about but still. That's so sad. What a sad world we live in when we have to wonder about light up shoes making a child a target.

My DS wears light up shoes. I can understand their reasoning I suppose.

Why not just have the kid take off the shoes in a drill? I don't work in a school so I don't know the complications of taking shoes off but I do agree its sad

That seems silly. If something were to happen you are supposed to stay still and not be moving. So her shoes wouldnt be lighting up anyway

It is real sad but a small price to pay to keep our children safe.

Crime has been decreasing since the 70's. Things are actually getting better, believe it or not.

Schools are still redoing security policies regardless of the risk.
