My 6 year old son Easton told me today that he doesn't like his name and he wants to change it.
I asked him why and he said it was 'because it is boring' so I asked him what he would change it to, he said Jacob. I veto Jacob since there are 3 Jacob's in his class!
I told him that he could go by East or James which is his middle name. He said he wants to be James.
It will be interesting to see if he actually remembers that he wants to be James.
Have any of your children decided to go by another name or nickname? Was it a hard transition?
*Edit*
He is still stuck on James and even told his friends at church today that his name is now James. He seems happy with his choice, so I am okay with it.
For everyone saying that it is a 'unique' name, that they feel bad for him for having such an unusual name. Easton is number 102 on the name popularity list. It is more popular than Eric, Micah, Colin, Kyle etc. So no it isn't a created name. It may not be your style, and that is okay, but it isn't a 'hideous' name.
ALLONS-Y

No, my kids haven't said anything like that.

He once said he didn't like it and insisted on being called Jacob (what is it with this name! Lol)
He soon forgot.. He goes by Jay most of the time anyway

Easton is a good name!

I don't blame him. Easton is hideous . James is much better

My DS started crying while we were eating dinner at a restaurant because he wanted me to name him Dennis. It was HILARIOUS considering he was obsessed w/ Dennis the Menace at the time.
