Dating before a divorce is finalized? Bad idea?

Is it okay for a person who is going through a divorce to date? Does it matter if the STBX has already started dating (and is in a serious relationship) also? Like if a man starts dating before his divorce is finalized but STBX wife has been in a serious relationship for a while.

Is it ever a good idea or okay?

As long as you are seperated I don't think its the end of the world to date before the divorce is final. Everyone deserves happiness.

Personally, I would get out of one mess before jumping into another.

I see no issue.  If both are emotionally ready to move on, the marriage is just a piece of paper at that point.

I would have no issue, but I would caution against getting "involved" as opposed to dating.  Give yourself a year at least before jumping in with another man.

I think it always depends on the persons individual situation. I dated before I was divorced. It wasnt a problem.

I dated my husband before his divorce was finalized but they had been seperated for over a year.

I did. I have been with my current SO for almost 5 years and divorced less than 3. With my ex husband, though.. we were both done, no feeling were left on either side. I was emotionally checked out long before we even separated. Also, we had no kids.

I dated before my divorce was final. My ex husband had an affair. So why should I have to wait to move on? I was just having fun. Nothing serious right away. Definitely make sure you are completely over your marriage before getting serious with another man. Good luck!
