I have!
I have used my son as an excuse for being late, missing appointments.
I also use him as an excuse to not date at all. It is partially true that I don't have time and I want to focus on my kid. I also don't date because I'm self conscience of the weight I've put on (I'm 260lbs) because I don't want to co-parent and because I'm gay and not sure how to approach that topic with my son.
thoughts?

I did today, but it was almost legit. I was supposed to go to a baby shower, but my husband *couldn't* pick our daughter up from practice (30 miles opposite direction of shower location, so I had to do it and miss out on all the fun. Oh darn. ;)

I have when it came to why I didn't feel I could afford to pay for something school related (solo & ensemble contest for my D who is in orchestra- it's required yet was not in the participation fee paid at the beginning of the year). I flat out told the teacher I'm a single mom of 5 & had I known at the beginning of the year this was required I would have budgeted!

Yea. It's getting harder now that they are older tho. I used to use them as an excuse not to date.
