Do you ever use your kids as an excuse?

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post

I have!

I have used my son as an excuse for being late, missing appointments.

I also use him as an excuse to not date at all.  It is partially true that I don't have time and I want to focus on my kid.  I also don't date because I'm self conscience of the weight I've put on (I'm 260lbs) because I don't want to co-parent and because I'm gay and not sure how to approach that topic with my son.

thoughts?

Geez. When I was in band, solo & ensemble was voluntary and cheap as balls. How much is it now?

I have when it came to why I didn't feel I could afford to pay for something school related (solo & ensemble contest for my D who is in orchestra- it's required yet was not in the participation fee paid at the beginning of the year). I flat out told the teacher I'm a single mom of 5 & had I known at the beginning of the year this was required I would have budgeted!

How'd you have a kid if you're gay? Adoption?

Not unless its a valid excuse. I don't lie about my son making me late or having to skip out on things.

I'm not dating because I really want to focus on my son and work. Its not an excuse, just fact. And frankly coming on here and seeing everyone's relationship drama does not encourage me to date LOL.

I think I always knew but didn't admit it to myself and did what was expected of me and had a boyfriend.  He was an awful boyfriend because I saw all men as unappealing so wasn't too picky.  Our sex life was awful because I was completley turned off by him.  He was abusive and controlling and we didn't have a computer or internet as part of that whole lovely package.  When I left I bought a computer and discovered porn lol.  Aaand self discovery achieved. lol  That's it in a nutshell

We paid a $75 participation fee for the year but solo & ensemble was another $20 which we get half back if DD turns in her music & practice cd. That $20 should have been part of the participation fee imo!

I just joined up today but I can't imagine that is a unique story.  Probably hundreds just like that.  I've met a lot of gay people who had the same basic story.  One woman I am friends with told me as a young adult she dated married men.  It wasnt until she was nearly 30 that she realized she was dating them because they were essentially unavailable.
