So today I was at a restaurant and my 15 month old dd was being awful! So I gave her a few sips of my diet Dr pepper, she has never had soda before, ever! So then she really liked it and freaked out even more if I did not give to her! She had about a cup total. So my question is... Tonight she was really hyper, fussy and gassy and just plain irritated! Could it be the soda? I will never give her soda again!

Probably the sugar and carbonation. She will be fine after awhile

It was likely the caffeine and could be a reaction to the aspartame

It's likely the soda. That's hard on little tummies when they aren't used to it.

Anything new in her diet could possibly hurt her belly. Live and learn. And thanks for doing anything to shut your child up! Lol

It could be. I'm all about soda in moderation, but a cup is a lot for a first timer. Don't beat yourself up. You both got to expirience something together.

Sure, she could have gas from the soda and the caffeine could be making her hyper. Give her some water to sip on.  I hope she feels better soon. She will be alright.

Yes it was probably the soda. If you ever give her any more, water it down first

YES, it most likely is the soda.  Carbonated beverages are known to cause gas pains in the stomach, especially such a small stomach that consumed so much.  Not to mention that the caffeine and artificial sweetner is most likely the cause of the hyperness and fussiness.  I'm guessing that she also has a headache to go along with the tummy ache.

I wouldn't give her diet again though. Aspartme is not really good for people.

I am going to say yes, it probably was the soda.

I can drink most sodas just fine, but Dr. Pepper makes me gassy & I get a really bad stomach ache. :/
