Tell me about your experiences. I can look up lists of symptoms all I want, but I'm looking for real life examples of what it looks like.

They tried to give my Son that diagnosis once. He is now 15 with minimal issues. I wish I knew what to tell you Mama.

I'm still dealing with it as an adult.

I also have bipolar disorder, OCD, anxiety disorders, and ADHD. From what I gather, those all run hand in hand.

How old is your child?

My 6 yr old has it.  She has ripped door frames off the wall.  Some days are good and some days are bad.  She is going through the destructive stage right now.  I wish you luck.  Be firn and consistant.  don't let your child dictate the house.

See if there is a Parent to Parent group in your state. They will hook you up with a parent of a child with ODD and they will walk you through everything, diagnosis, treatment, that moment you are feeling like the worst person in the world, everything.

All kids are defiant. this is nothing new. this isnt an illness. or a disability. it shouldnt even be a diagnosis.

we wouldnt have so much ADHD and ODD if we had parents who actually TOOK CARE OF IT.

I have a 6 yr old.he screams, hollers and yells constantly. Everything seems to piss him off. He throws tantrums at the drop if a hat and I have no reason why half the time. No matter what we say to him we are wrong and he will argue with us. Example: j do you want to watch tv? No. Ok.  Yes.   Ok  no I don't leave me alone. Yelling the whole time.

He is worse at home, but gives the school a run for their money. Just last week they had to remove all the kids from his class because he was threatening to throw chairs at everyone.  His bus driver shut the bus off and met me at the driveway. The poor woman was shaking as she told me this is the worst I've ever seen J. He was yelling, and screaming at everyone, kicking and hitting the other students.

pi can only offer up so many apologies. But that's just a bit of what I deal with on a daily basis.  J also has aspergers,ADD, ADHD, OCD and ODD

its just a fun and loud time here

You sound SO ignorant.

SO & I do NOT put up with bullshit behavior. There are praises for good choices and consequences for bad choices.

We do NOT spank any more because DS would become so scared, because he didn't understand why he was being punished for something he cannot control, and he would pee on himself.

We literally tried EVERYTHING we could think of. Being more strict, change in diet, making sure he got more sleep, keeping him on a very consistant/strict schedule, therapy since he was 3. But we drew the line when he got suspended, and nearly expelled from Kindergarten because he could not sit down in his chair for longer than 2 minutes. He would tell us that he wants to listen and do what his teacher tells him, but he can't sit because it makes his brain hurt.

He was diagnosed by 3 different specialists with ADHD & Generalized Anxiety. So PLEASE do not tell me that we were/are not taking care of it. His doctor put him on Concerta & he is a completely different child and thriving in school. (for the better)

Is ADHD/ODD/ADD way over diangosed? Yes. BUT some kids really do have it.
