My dr gave me topamax yesterday. I've googled for the last hour. Now I would like to hear what you liked or didn't like about it. Side effects, did it work for you? You know, everything lol

Thanks :)

I have epilepsy and chronic migraines.  I took Topamax for three months when I was seventeen.  My mother and I refer to it as "Dopamax", because it made me feel absolutely stupid.  I could look at a problem as simple as "2+2", and by the time I finished reading the answer choices, I would have forgotten the question.  Also, I lost a very unhealthy amount of weight over those three months, because I would get full on two bites of food.  Seriously, one day I woke up starving, took a couple of bites out of an apple, and felt as though I had just eaten a holiday dinner.  I started crying at that point.  It also made me very anxious and paranoid.  Apparently, I began suspecting that my mother was terminally ill, and that everyone was hiding it from me.

I was on it for migraines, it messed with my appetite and being borderline diabetic ( thanks genetics) that wasn't working in my favor.

It's also called "Dopamax" by those who have been on it for a long period of time or those who are on high doses of it.

That being said, it was a God-send for my migraines when I took it.

It was given to me to help with migraine control. It made my entire face tingle for hours at a time. Did not help with the migraines and we stopped due to the nonstop tingling.
