Is it appropriate for exes to be friends?

ExH and I are both in new relationships. Most of our communication is about our kids (logistical or medical or just checking in when the other has the kids) but occasionally we have longer conversations (30 minutes or so) about each other's lives. Just general conversations about how things are going. Appropriate or no?

As long as your current SO doesn't have a problem with it, it's fine. You have children together, so it's not like you won't have contact, might as well make it as civil as possible.

As long as it doesn't cross the line its fine. Don't talk about anything you wouldn't say if your new guy was sitting in a room with the both of you.

I have one son with my ex bf, but we don't talk anymore and he's not a part of our son's life. I don't have any contact with any of my ex bfs anymore now that I'm married.

That's fine, actually ideal for exes with kids...obviously though only if there are no unresolved feelings.

I think it is healthy for your kids. I don't understand how people can't see this.
