Feeling guilty :(

My 5 yr old dd's birthday is mid Sept and she missed the age requirement date my just a couple of weeks so she doesn't start kindergarten until next school year. Now I'm feeling guilty for not putting her in pre school because lately she's been making the occasional comments about wanting to go to school. I'm glad she's excited to start but I feel like she's missing out. I'm a sahm and I work with her everyday to help prepare her academically but it's socializing with other children in a classroom setting that will be completely new to her. My dh assures me she will be completely fine and that I shouldn't feel guilty about not putting her in pre school. I wouldn't if she didn't have to wait to start kindergarten until she's almost 6. Is anyone or has anyone been in this situation?

I have not. Bump for you! Can she spell her name and such? Work on stuff like that, you'll be alright and so will she.

Put her in dance or some other activities that she can socialize in.

My DS missed the cut off too. He went to Pre-school. He LOVED it, mostly the socilazation with the other kids :)

DS's birthday is right before the cut-off, I chose to keep him out and have him do a year of pre-school and he started Kinder at 6...he has done wonderfully. He needed that year of socialization with his peers. He is a Junior in high school now and will be 18 before his Senior Year.
