BABY TALK

My 18 month old doesn't talk.  Really, at all.  She points and says, "UH!" at whatever she wants: juice, t.v., book, toy, food.

However, she listens very well.  I can ask her to take her passifier out and she does, or go get a particular toy and she'll go grab it.  So I don't think it's a hearing issue.

Any other mothers have a late bloomer?  Any advice?

We read, I narrate what I am doing during the day etc.

I'm worried.

If you're very worried....(which I don't think you should be yet) you can always contact EI.

They are fantastic.

I'd worry more when he's 2 years old. Talk to your pedi.

Oh that's fantastic.  Mine is fluent in Dutch and Tagalog ... it's English she is struggling with.

Snarky comment is snarky.

My DD did that also. She's 2 and a half now and only very recently started saying what she wants. I think your DD will get there, just be patient and keep doing what you're doing. I always asked her what she wanted when she would point and whine "do you want juice? Bring me your cup and ill get you some juice." It took some patience on my end. If I were you I wouldn't worry or stress much about it yet. Just keep at it.
