DH's dumb self was on YouTube doing God knows what and malware uploaded itself to our comp. All of a sudden our screen locks and says to pay $400.00 through GreenPak to unblock our computer. Of course this was my fault even though I was gone all day.

Anyways I'm downloading Emsisoft to remove the malware. Google it if this virus gets your comp.

UPDATE: I was able to remove the malware successfully with Malwarebytes. Such a relief. Laptop is a little slow, but I'm on normal mode right now.

How is it your fault? My foot would be planted in his ass.

DH has a nice imprint on his ass right now. He did the right thing by heading to bed an hour early because he got chewed out. I'll need to update my Norton Virus Scanner now. I knew it was a mistake to let it expire.

I got the same thing on my computer. We just took it to the place where we got the computer and they fixed it for us. Of course they charged us around $30 bucks....though we were freaking out and we thought it was real. My SO was about to pay $200.

That's why you get a Mac. Have had our desktop for 6 years and no viruses, same with the laptop we've had for three years. Also, no need for any anti-virus software!!

How is that your fault? I would have changed the password to the admin account and given him a childlocked account.

Some malware is designed specifically for Macs since they have gone up in popularity. Be careful out there.
