If that is true, my son is bound to be an actor.

I believe 20/20 did a story on this and names can hinder your success in the business world.

However I've known plenty of bums named John, Peter, and Paul so there are some who are exceptions to the rule.

This calls to mind the decidedly unchaste Chastity I knew in Jr. Highschool.

Quoting TSNDDY:

I knew two Angel's in highschool, of course they were far from.

Quoting MixedCooke:

well some names do sound more like stripper or porn star names but it really just depends on the person.

its funny how many criminals I come across with names like Justice and Innocent.

I think it can affect their career. Not all the time, but it sure can. If an employer sees two people with the same qualifications and one's named John and the other is named Bentleigh, they're probably going to hire John.

ABSOLUTELY!!  Some of the freak-names that I get across my desk, I just ignore.  I am not going to hire anyone with an atrocious name.  i have been trying to counsel people on that for years, they do not listen to me.  Leviathan?  Really?  Did you not see the movie?  Amigdalah?  Did your mama not use that part of her brain when she named you?  wtf?  Racist, no.  Proof of roots in the trashiest sector of society, yes.

I've passed on calling a person for an interview if they have a name that sounds trashy

Would you have hired me with my name? Anika?

I have pasted on hiring people before b/c I could not pronounce their name.

I've known plenty of unwed Chastity's who were young moms. Oh, the irony!

I also went to school with a girl named Virgin. She ran through the entire football team her freshman year. Lovely.
