Do you have free clinics that you can go to?

or is that just something on tv?

Doesn't that make the ER's slow?

We have clinics with a sliding scale, and there is a church that runs a free clinic once a month with volunteers. They'll also pay for any prescriptions needed that they don't have on hand.

Some places do have them , but they are not an option for much of the population. We dont even have a walk in clinic that will accept state insurance and if you are not insured at all they wont take you unless you have cash in hand.

No, expensive as hell. Most people go and don't pay their bill.

There's 1 that I know of in my area. I tried going there years ago and was told they wouldn't see me because I had a job, even though I made $7 an hour and dh couldn't find work. :( I think that might have changed now though.

Depends on what you need - lots of places do free physicals for schoolkids, free seasonal vaccinations for people who can't afford them, free women's exams (paps, mammograms, etc). Most of those are through places like the health department or private charities like churches.
