I'm 26 weeks pregnant and have a coffee question. I normally drink 1 small cup per day in the am and maybe a can of pop with lunch. Today I had my 1 small cup of coffee this morning but was wondering if it would hurt to have another this evening. Were going to a Christmas party from 9-12 and I got up at 6 for work....I'm exhausted and wanted the little pick me up. Is it OK?

Anything is okay in moderation.

Another cup of coffee won't hurt you or your baby.

It's fine.  2 cups is still within the ok amount, I believe and it's just one day.  If you don't make a habit of it, I don't see the big deal.  While I completely understand limiting caffeine during pregnancy, there actually aren't studies that connect caffeine to birth defects.  My hunch is it would take a whole LOT of it over a long period of time.

Coffee has a lot more caffeine than pop. One cup of coffee is about your daily limit for caffeine, but it would take 4 or 5 cans of pop. As a one time thing I would say its fine but not regularly.
