What is wrong with unemployment?

How is unemployment PA?
Where I am from you have to work 300+ hours in order to be eligble for it and you pay into it with your own taxes.
So how exactly is it PA when all you're getting is money that YOU paid?
Is it run differently in America?

It's similar in the US and in my state a person has o work VERY hard to look for work and prove it in order to stay on.

It is run the same way here. People just love finding things to complain about without actually knowing what they are talking about.

I don't consider unemployment to be PA.

My company is exempt from paying into unemployment though.

OMG,  If all you got were money that you paid in, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

That's not how it is here in the US unfortunately.

If people were paid only what they paid in, they'd probably get one check and it would be over with.

Yes it works just like that here . It's based on punt of time / money you pay in to it

I used to make $300 to $500 a week at my old job. When I got laid off I went to unemployment....I was only approved for $44 a week, but I thought it should be more. :(

 It's not PA, it's prepaid.

It's the same here. My brother is temporarily getting it because he works in construction. He goes back in May but he still has to prove that he is job searching.
He also had to work 60+ hours a week to get it.
