You're not the one doing a good deed, us tax payers are.
If you're going to help someone out do it from your own pocket or don't do it at all.

Another thing, the money left in your fs account won't go to waste if you don't spend it all, same thing goes for WIC tickets. Buying more food than you need is wasteful and tacky, especially if you are giving out that un-needed food that you didn't even buy with your own money to charity.

****JMHO****
I hear it all of the time on this site, women using their WIC or FS to buy extra food to "donate", da'fuck woman! When you have enough money to feed your own family, worry about feeding someone elses!!!

I was just correcting you that yes wic does go to waste if not used.

Quoting Anonymous:

People don't always need to spend all of their tickets before the end of the month.

My SIL gets WIC for her and her 3 kids all under 4, between all of them they get 6 gallons of milk, 5 boxes of cereal and more, thats not including the money they get for produce and dairy! They don't need that much food!

Wic expires they are only good for a month

wic gives like 18 gallons of milk a month, nobody uses that, fs just sit on your account, and just because you get fs don't mean you won't end up at the food pantry.... and how do you figure people on assistance don't pay taxes....

People who take more than they need give a bad rap for everyone else on fs.

We delayed solids for the last but wic doesn't delay when you can get baby food so we picked up ourbaby food for when the baby would be ready, well he hated it and rather mashed up what we were eating.  So I called wic explained what happend and you know what they told me to do....DONATE it there are many in need.  I said are you sure I won't get in trouble they said you won't.

SO I donated over about 6 months worth of baby food because we ended up not needing it,  I felt bad wanted to take it to them but couldn't so I did what they told me to do.  But knowing that I helped families that couldn't get wic or had a hard week was nice.

is it illegal to donate food you bought with wic or fs?

It's illegal to re-sell them but I don't think they really care if you donate them. Just so long as you aren't making money.

If I needed food and someone cared enough to buy me food from her foodstamps I'd thank her. Is it better for a person to let it sit untouched in a foodstamp account or help someone in need? I guess it depends on what you value. I however, do not care. My taxes will be the same. The state said they are eligible for so much money and what they do with it is OK with me. If I have a problem, Id let the state know. Not a low income person for trying to help out someone.

I used my FS to get food for my parents, who didn't qualify but needed the help. They were in that awful gray area where their numbers didn't help them qualify but they still couldn't make ends meet (they were a mere $40 over the maximum). I was glad to help them out with the extra I had been given.

I didn't do it to be a good person or get a pat on the back... I did it because we are family and they needed the help. So i don't really care who saw, or cared, or said "good job" or whatever else. I was glad to put it to good use.

i agree..when i used to be o n wic right before  my husband was deployed to Iraq and I didn't use all the checks and I gave them back to the wic office. They said that was good because it saves tax payer money or they can use the money for something else.
