My name is Megan. I was born in 1979, almost at the beginning of the Megan craze that took the 80's. In that time, there were three spelling: mine, Meghan, and sometimes Meagan.
Over the years, I've seen the spelling of my name include Megin, Meaghan, Meegan, Maegen, Megen, Meggin, Maygan, and Maeygen. I thought I'd seen them all, until today. Today I saw
Meighen, and Mayghan!
You are not making your child unique when you do this. You are making the rest our lives difficult. I went to get my license renewed. The woman misspelled my name THREE TIMES before getting it right. (and no, I didn't leave until it was corrected.)
I went from my married name back to my legal name. The order was misspelled, making me Megaen. (got that straight too)
This goes for ANY name. Please.... just stop. Stop doing it to them, and stop doing it to us.
Meaghan is the traditional Gaelic spelling but yeah I know what you mean.
OK, I'll give that one. But the rest of them? Nonsense.
Quoting Maevelyn:Meaghan is the traditional Gaelic spelling but yeah I know what you mean.
Oh no, they're all unique little snowflakes that are as rare and precious as their names.
Baaaahahahahahaha
"Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification" Romans 14:19

Ha. I'm sorry!
I'm glad I have a normal name that is spelled pretty much the only way you can spell it.
Parents should think of this before naming their kids. Life is hard enough. Don't make it more difficult.
