In 2003 or 2004, my dh came home from school (he is a principal) with the flu. He isolated himself and the other 5 of us took Tamiflu. I did not have any side effects from it. No one else in the house got sick. Did it work? Maybe.
i gave it to my sons a few weeks ago when they started getting sick. their cousin and their step brother, who they see nearly daily, both tested positive for influenza A. the dr called in a script for tamiflu for us and within 2 days they were better. so, yeah, i think it worked.
oh, and, no, i didn't notice a single side effect in them.
A few years ago, one of my kids had the flu, and they gave it to her. No side effects, not really sure how effective it was though.
Now, around here at least, they won't prescribe it unless you're in a high risk category. None of our family is, so we won't be getting any if we get the flu.
