About to lose it all ...

My dh just got a call from his sd from a previous marriage and she wants to come live with us. She is almost 30, lost custody of her kids, been in jail off and on and overdosed on drugs a few years ago. Her mother says she has been clean a month (the month she was in jail) but I just don't know. We live about 2 hours from where she is and has to go to court so I just don't think this is a good idea at all. I'm trying to make dh see it from my point of view but he doesn't want to turn his back on her. What do I say to him that I haven't already that will make him see this could destroy our family?

One you have kids in your home. She had her children taken away from her. Does that not worry you to have her around your kids? It would me! Good luck with this.

She is 30! Wow. No way no how. We are not talking about a kid who needs a break.

she needs rehab, not a free place to stay. how else is she going to get better if she continues to get enabled.

No way no way NO WAY would I let a middle age drug addict in my home if I had children (which I'm assuming you do). The state could and would snatch your kids up if she brought drugs home/around them. She lost custody. Don't let her cost you your kids

I wouldn't want her in my house neither, but there is nothing you can do, really. He has a right to help his DD
