My sister... Please Pray: Uptdate, updated again in red

Posted by   + Show Post

My sister has been having terrible migranes the last few months, she has seen eye doctors and specialist, etc...
Wednesday at work she suddenly went blind. She went to the hospital and is still there and still can't see. They have run several tests and still don't know what is wrong. More results are coming in today.
She was supposed to get married today(elope) but she obviously can't.
She has a nine year old and a four year old who are scared and miss their Momma.
She is in Florida and I am in Minnesota so I can't even be there for them. My heart is breaking!
So... if you pray pray for her and her doctors. Pray for my nieces and soon to be BIL.
thanks ladies

I am updating because I don't know what else to do at this time.

I just got off the phone with my sister. She had a spinal tap done yesterday and the pain and the fear and being away from her girls and family was more than she could take. Apparently a psych evaluation was done and she did quite poorly. If the hospital does discharge her she will have another psych eval to see if she will be able to go home or if she will have to be put in an in patient mental facility. If that were to happen I would have to go to Florida to care for my nieces, as if anything were to happen to my sister I would become the girls legal guardian.

I am hoping she will be able to calm down and that the doctors will figure out what is wrong and hopefully find a way to repair her sight.

I really wish I could be there with her. I will probably continue to update even if no one reads this, it is therapeutic to wright it out matter of factly.

Update 2

Last night my brother called me. He told  me he had just gotten off the phone with my sister, she is out of the hospital and that we should stop worrying about her. He sounded very upset and didn't want to talk about her other than to tell me to stop waisting my time on her.

When I went to bed I lay there and thought of all the things she would have to deal with being blind. Not getting to see how beautiful her babies grow up to be. Never seeing the ocean again (she is obsessed with the ocean) I cried for her.

I woke up this morning  and logged onto my Facebook to find her relationship status had changed from "in a relationship" to "married". She had tons of pictures of her, her husband and her children during their elopement ceremony. She had posted a short status update about not being able to see but having the best husband in the world to care for her.

She talked to my other sister this morning, and said she has some sight. (enough to make fb posts and e-mail) but that she is still not seeing well enough to work so she is going to be a mom and house wife until she can see a specialist and figure out what is wrong.

I do not want to say she is lying about her vision but I am not convinced of how honest she is being. I am not sure how to take any of this...

So thank you for your prays and well wishes. I don't know what else to say...

I really want to! I would have to borrow $ and find someone to take my kids while I was gone. My in-laws could/would take the kids but they are very old and not in great condition I am worried it would be to much for them to keep the kids that long.
I know my brother is good for the $ but he can be a real dick when he thinks someone owes him.
I am trying to figure out some better options

How about going now to helo her before she ends up in a mental institution? She obviously needs more support if possible

Lots of things.
A car accident, head being hit violently, heredity just to name a few.

My mom was getting blinding headaches and found out her retina was starting to detach. They put a patch on her eye and after a few months it helped.

Quoting ALWsMomma:

What causes the retina to detach?

Quoting Anonymous:

Sounds like her headaches were caused by her retina detaching. It causes blindness.

Even a short trip might be what she needs

That is odd! Do you have a link? Maybe if they figured out what happened to her Dd I could pass it along to my sister

That is crazy...there is a woman on here that just posted something VERY similar about her 16 yo dd. I wonder if something is going on?

Migraines can make you lose vision all on their own.
