I'm just not understanding this. I'm suppose to find what number X should be to make the denomiator 0 and I'm not gettting how to figure it out. Am I missing something simple??

X + 2
_________

4X + 3

Sorry, I can't figure out how to write it one here easily.

I read that as x plus 2 divided by (or over) 4x plus 3. Correct. So you're not solving for x you're solving to make the denominator 0? Is there more to the equation?

it's just x+2 over 4x+3. That's all there is and yes, it's to make the denominator 0.

big on the if, but if I remember right

X+2/4X+3=0

(4X+3)(X+2/4X+3)=4X+3 red cancels out

X+2=4X+3

X-X3=4X3-X red cancels out

2-3=4X-X

-3=3X

-3/3=3/3X red cancels out

-3/3=X

-1=X so X=-1

Best resource ever from elementary to high school - like having a FREE tutor from Harvard.

I found a site that gives me answers but I have to pay for it to show me the steps and the answer is -3/4 but I don't know how to get that answer.
