We are bringing our dogs home today now that I've got most of the boxes unpacked and things put away. Our blue heeler does NOT like cats roaming around his backyard. As long as they stay out of our fence he's fine , same with stray dogs. Get in my fenced in yard however and buddy you better run !
Before you ask , when we first moved here 4 years ago , I called animal control on a regular basis about all the strays but unless they are vicious they won't come out. If the people in this neighborhood would stop feeding the strays they would go elsewhere. Or perhaps spay and neuter their pets we wouldn't have this problem.
We grew up in the country so moving to the city was quite shocking to say the least , the first cat our dog shook to death I had no idea what to do with it. Dead pets get buried in the country, animal control advised us to put it in a trash sack and in the trash can ...... Uhmmm ok?
Eventually once the strays realize their are dogs here they stop pestering us soooo here's to a few more dead cats for the next couple weeks !
ETA : we moved out for a few months for construction
