Do any of you have autistic children ?
I have 3 kids . Ages 2,4,and 7. My 2 and 7 yr old will eat anything . My autistic 4 yr old is very picky and eats limited things .texture is a big deal as well as visual appeal.
He does not eat noodles or rice . He does not eat potatoes or cooked veggies.
So how would you deal with that

my youngest has a texture issue as well. I still make one thing but make sure to have at least a side that she will like and eat. as she has gotten older it has gotten better.

I would hope they accomodate his or her needs. That would be terrible to force a child to eat something they have issues with and they have special needs.

My kids aren't autistic but I make them eat what I cook or nothing at all. If they get hungry enough they won't be so picky.

That would be a different story in my household. Its not something that he can control.

My kids are developmentally normal, but my daughter is very picky.

I usually make her a seperate meal. No big deal. She can eat whatever she wants as long as it's healthy.

I don't force my kids to eat anything.

My husband and I choose what we want to eat, why can't they?

I give them a list of several healthy options, and they can choose.

I have an Autistic son, 6, he eats what I make or he doesn't eat.  We treat him just like we treat our other children and anyone else that eats here.  The more normal you treat them, the more normal they act, we make almost no concessions for his Autism.

But what if they truly don't like it? Is there someone who forces you to eat food you don't like?

I have an autistic DD. She also has SPD..
I'm usually making seperate meals, because if not, she wouldn't eat.

Well my son is not autistic, but has a texture issue with foods that developed around 5yrs old-so many times we make things that we know he will eat or if we want something we know he wont be make a quick something that he will.  I hear crap form many in the family, but we deal with it and it is fine.  His big thing is veggies potatoes and anything creamy.
