I was reading this off of The Stir. Apparently this guy was going to use the gasoline to burn the woman. I was reading in horror, then relief...Then the ending...I honestly laughed. Just thinking of all the people who are social media obsessed, and post every little thing. It's so odd in the midst of a situation like that.

This happened in the town my husband grew up in, where his sister still lives. It's straight out of a horror movie.

Glad it didn't end like one. I mean, I know awful things happened, but he planned to kill her, and I'm glad she got away and all of them were safe in the end.

Agreed! The town it started in, where she was kidnapped from, we lived at until about 5 years ago. It's a smaller community, but with a large state university, and a large Indian casino, it has attracted a lot of crime over the past couple of years. When we lived up there, most of the crime was small- some robberies, lots of drug use and drug sales. They made history as being one of the top party colleges about 15-20 years ago after some major riots.

but over the past 2-3 years, there have been 5 murders, including one little boy eho is still unexplained. His mother and her boyfriend were arrested, but there was a major manhunt, only to find that he had been buried in a shallow grave under the front porch. Dogs didn't pick up his scent due to living in the home.

i am SO glad we no longer live up there. It's down right scary, given how small the community is. DH worked on the campus where it happened. We used to take our kids to the SAC for swimming (that's where she was taken- student activity center).
