My 16 month old is diving head first onto the floor!

I cannot figure out this odd behavior. For no reason at all he stares at the floor, lifts his arms up and out like he's diving into water and goes head first onto the floor. He is not angry. He has been to the doctor and there is nothing physically wrong with him. He has bruises all over his forehead and has cut his lip twice. Once badly. What the heck child?! This can't be normal! Anybody else ever have this problem? It doesn't even exist on Google!

Is there a specific place he does this at. I saw a lady on youtube put a box of soft toys under her couch arm when your kid was diving off the couch. The box woud catch them a decrease the risk of injury.

lol be thankful its not head first off the tv stand or couch... I have a 19 month old that dives off everything she is a triplet and one of her sisters picked up couch diving but grew tired of it after about two dives on her head at first it was hillarious to her...

I don't know. Learning cause and effect maybe? My little ones are always daredevils. My youngest is also going through an extremely aggressive phase that doesn't seem to have any end in sight.

Well yes. Yes, I have superpowers and I can get to him from where I'm standing faster than he can go from standing to diving. Can't everybody?
