Their home only using firewood?

We are using a fireplace insert. It's so much work, but so worth it. Until nights like tonight it's suppose to be 13 degrees out!! Our bedroom is the furthest away from the heat so I will be sleeping with my sweatshirt on lol!

Aw I'm sorry it sucked for you. We don't smell at all not even our house smells like smoke lol. Outside it does on occasion. Maybe because we don't have a woodstove just an insert.

Why did it suck?

No. I grew up like that and it SUCKED! I would not own a home with wood heat as the main or only heat source.

I grew up in South Dakota. It was freezing cold in our house, except the room the stove was in. We had ice on the insides of our walls. :/  All the work and the mess of the wood sucked. And I absolutely hate smelling like wood smoke, which is unavoidable if you have a wood stove.

Growing up we did and our house was always freezing. We have a fireplace now but have yet to use it. We live in south tx I've only turned on my heat a few days this year.

Dh is laughing at me because I have on thermal underwear with pajamas over it and big woolen socks. The wind chill is suppose to get down to 3 degrees by morning. I put a space heater in our bathroom for when I take my shower in the morning. Our room is the coldest in the house too. The bathroom is over the garage and the floor is all tile so it is normally cold in there.

Most of the house yes. We have heaters in the kids bedrooms, because the heat doesn't really go up there.

We use a woodstove and our house gets too hot sometimes. It's so much cheaper though so it's worth all the work.

Mine was freezing growing up. I wasn't talking about your house. I wouldn't have my sole heat from a wood stove at all but that's just me.
