What would have made it better?

Take out the rapes. The abuse. The mental abuse. The drugs, then I would have had an all American Childhood from movies. Many people said that about us when the truth came out. Looking in we were the poster children for an American Family in movies. Inside we had a drunk stepfather who felt children were seen not heard. He also felt women and girls were beneath him. My mother and I were live in Maids and punching bags until I was ten. Then I took matters into my own hands.

We have so much in common! We both eat food....and grew up right.

Not being abused and in foster care for 10 years and abused there too would have helped significantly.

Stressful? Yes

What would have made it better? A mother that wasn't bipolar and addicted to all sorts of pain medications. A mother that didn't decide life was too hard and attempt suicide more than half a dozen times. A mother that put an effort into my life and cared enough to show up at my school events. A mother that didn't sleep her life away and at least TRIED!

Me! If some one protected me or cared for me, or payed attention. But now I have that from my husband, and give it to my girls!

To be noticed and never ignored. For my mom to actually fight for my education... she says she did but I know better she did not until I was a senior
