does this make me a bad teacher

I teach high school and we are not provided with facial tissues. If we want them for class, we use our own money from our paychecks. It gets expensive because during cold and flu season I go through 4-6 boxes a week costing me around 20 bucks a month. I buy the Dollar General brand because its cheapest. I have a box stashed behind my desk for myself but it is Kleenex Cool Touch with Lotion. We are not required to buy our students tissues and most teachers in our building use a roll of bathroom tp. I had a parent email me and complain that I give kids dollar general brand while using a nicer brand for myself. To buy the more expensive brand, I'd double my costs. This parent has never given me any supplies. I told her that I would be fine with him bringing his own tissues to keep on him or leave in the room. The student is a 19 year old senior and his mom is calling me a bad teacher for giving him cheap tissues! Ugh!

That is ridiculous. The kid can bring his own tissues.

Nope. Boohoo for mommy's boy. Next thing you know she'll want you to wipe his nose for him too.
