meal or dignity

Inspired from a neighbour topic on poverty I was thinking to myself about prostitutes. There are lots of reasons and situations that could lead anyone to poverty. Without discussing the reasons, if we only accept that the poverty has occured - who would you respect more - a mom who's stripping or making sex for money, but her kids are not starving, or a poor mom with dignity and nothing for dinner?

As a parent you do what you must to feed your kids. At least in that situation the first mother is trying...

I think the stripper mom has more dignity.  She's actually providing for her children and doing what needs to be done.

I think parents that don't provide for their kids' basic needs are complete and utter failures.  Where's the dignity in failure?

Honestly I would have more respect for the prostitute or stripper over a mother whose kids are going without food.

there are many food assistance programs so if your child is starving you don't have to go strip for a living. that being said if you have a job as a dancer/stripper it's not the worst thing in the world but sex as a job is just bad for you in more then one way.

If you are doing whatever it takes to make sure your kids are fed and taken care of and you are being a good parent I don't see a problem with it.
