Because I won't let my 7 year old daughter sit here and video chat with your 7 year old on facebook.  I don't mind if they chat for a few minutes but that's it.  There will be no video chatting and their conversations will not last longer than 20 minutes.  I unlike you don't let a computer or or tv babysit my kid all night!  And yes I will supervise their every word of their conversation, don't like then you shouldn't let your kid on facebook!

Ok so this girl in my daughters class has her own fb page (seriously they are 7) and well she's on my friends list and messages me nonstop wanting to talk to my daughter.  Even when I have said no she asks why.  Well tonight at cheer practice the mom decided to go off because I won't let them video chat on there or talk for very long, and that I've got to the point I ignore half the messages she sends!

Wow.  I won't even let my DD2 have a facebook until she's 14.  That was the same age I let the oldest have hers, and I see no reason to change it for the other kids.  I get a lot of flack, even from other moms.  "Oh, times have changed since then...everyone has one, she'll get made fun of"  OK, I guess I just don't care.  I've seen how nasty these kids get on FB......

I might consider her having one at that age we'll see.  I've seen how bad it can get to.  The main reason I supervise every single second!  But after the other girls moms rant tonight I am seriously considering cutting their little conversations off completely!

I think it's 13 on Facebook?  When my oldest was asking, she originally wanted a MySpace, which was 14 per TOS, so that's what I went with.  By the time she was 14 everyone had Facebook instead.

It's either 13 or 14. My dd made a fb at her dad's, when she came home she showed me, I made her delete it. She was 11 then. The middle school age kids seem to have alot of issues with fb, there is alot of bullying and gossiping. Alot of telling other girls how ugly they are. Several girls ganging up on one girl picking on her. I've seen it all. My kids weren't allowed on til 14, but I see my friend's kids and my sister's kids on there. It's a bunch of drama and hurt feelings. They are just too young.

I definitely wouldn't allow it before the tos agreement age. I don't know at all about young kids on the Internet. It makes me very nervous for so many reasons. He'll just the other day I was trying to go to the local NPR webpage & a .com instead of a .net took me to hardcore Swedish porn. It's just that easy to stumble across shit. Not to mention how cruel kids can get.

Wow that is just rediculous! My kids are allowed to video chat with family members only, and we do that on Yahoo. They wouldn't even do that if we didn't live half way accross the country from all of our family. And at that the only time they get to get on a video game or computer is on the weekends unless it is for homework (oldest has to type spelling words sometimes). My TV is always on but my kids are stuck in the house most of the time because I cannot be outside very long because my asthma and the humidity here do not get along at all. I can't wait until March when me and the kids move back to my MILs in Nevada where the heat is nice and dry! Poor hubby will be stuck in texas for another year though :(
