****Just to clarify, I said I used to be a vet tech- its just a term we use in the hospitals I have worked for (not to say that all use that term but we do). I was actually a vet assistant. I did not go to school specifically to be a Registered Vet Tech. However, when I started back when I was 15 my badges up until a few years ago said Veterinary Technician.
It's just a habit to call the position "technician".

I am not a vet- nor an RVT (CVT,LVT) I can't give you veterinary advise. I can tell you what I've seen in my experience.
