Was your mom a good cook?

When you were a kid? Mine wasnt, haha. She has 3 or 4 things she knows how to make and they are all gross. One year, she let me eat nothing but pizza lunchables, sour cream and onion chips and oreos for every meal. Blech...I guess that's why I'm a stickler for healthy eating now. She would tell people that I was picky and there ass nothing she could get me to eat but the truth was she just didn't cook anything. I will try anything and I'm a real foodie.

She also freezes everything! She'll cook a steak, freeze it, then eat it a month later. Weird to me!

Sounds like my childhood. My mother was a horrible cook. I started cooking my own meals in the 1st grade

No. You knew mom was cooking when the smoke detectors were going off and the dogs were howling. Dad was a better cook.

Yes but Mom basically quit cooking when I was 13 and handed it over to me! So, I became a better cook than she is. Betty Crocker was my best friend for a long, long time. LOL I really do love to cook, but when I was a teen, I got tired of it.

I have found that cooking meat ahead saves a lot of time. I'll buy meat and precook it and freeze it. Later I just defrost and add it to the recipe.
