Do you ask to go out

SO is out of town for work. Won't be back for at least a week. My neighbor wants me to go out with her Saturday to a dj/karaoke party in a town 30 minutes away. She is willing to pay her 18 year old niece to stay with my kids, buy my drinks, and get the hotel room.

So I asked SO if I could go. He said " why are you asking, you are grown, kids are taking care of, go". I just feel it would be disrespectful of me to go without making sure he was OK with it.

Would you ask in this situation, or just go?

I would discuss it with him, but I wouldn't seek permission, just his opinion. He might take issue with an overnight with a babysitter the girls haven't met before, or some other concern. He'd give me his opinion, then I'd make a decision.

Nope. They are asleep and just fine. Didn't know, at almost 32, there were certian days I could drink lmao!! Do you want the number to cps in my state?

I would ask, not so much for permission,  I mean if you just went wouldn't he wonder where you were?   If I'm taking the kids with me and going out and know I will be back home around the time he gets home or a little later I don't bother to ask.

 I definitely let my So know where I am going. It's kind of a respect thing in my relationship like yours is. My so knows where I am going, who I am with, and what time I go. It's not that he's jealous, controling, or even really mad when I go out. When he knows where I am at and who I am with it makes it easier for him not to worry if I don't answer my phone or when I am not home (usually I am)

He has been out of town and I mentioned I'm going to a knitting class to learn and he got all mad and upset and said he was hurt I didn't tell him ...







So probably won't mention anything to him ever again.
