My son punched a kid at school

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post
He is 7 and in 2nd grade. That is just not him at all to act that way. Im really in shock. Apparently, ithappened at recess. He punched another boy in the face and gave him a bloody nose. His teacher said she's not sure WHY it happened. She was out of school yesterday so she's trying to figure out the details, but she was just giving me a heads up.
Question is, I don't even know how to discipline for this. I've never dealt with either of my kids being violent. Any advice? I don't know anymore details than what I've written.

Did you ask him about it?

Yes, he said the boy came up behind and held his arms down so he couldn't get his jacket on and it made him made.

First I would find out why he did it.

I would definately ask his side of the story before you give him any indication of how you feel about it. Regardless of the reason, violence isn't the answer. I feel like its important to let him know you love him but punching someone is not acceptable and then talk about what he could have done differently. Good luck Momma!
