My sil has a 16 year old daughter (the oldest of 3). She filed her taxes and was FURIOUS when informed that she couldn't receive eic for her. Well, not the whole $2k anyway. I was with her, gave her a ride, so I heard it All and was kind of embarrassed. She was shouting, saying that "that shit is not fair!", and whatnot. She went as far as saying why work if you can't claim all your kids. Smh.
I do have to ask if that is real (the age limit being 16)...I only have a 6 month old and don't qualify for eic anyway so I have no clue.
She should be glad she was able to claim the 2 for the credit. The age limit is the age limit, she should have looked it up. It's all made pretty clear and any person with a brain should look it up to see what they can qualify for. I look it up every year to make sure I know ahead of time any changes.
She should be grateful.

Here if they turn 18 before yrs end they don't qualify
I admit that I was surprised when the guy told her that.
Quoting Anonymous:um...the limit isnt 16.
its 18, unless the child is still in HS, in which case it goes to 21 that you can claim the child credit.
The EIC is a credit for low income family.
