What are some things judges look at to determine custody?

What would be valid reasons to have custody changed other than obvious abuse or neglect? Just curious.

I would think income and living situations

No stability. Homeless, unable to mentally care for a child.

Parent's wishes, child's wishes (if he or she is of an age) or domestic violence in the home.

In Cali if you are a drunk you get no custody that's how my brother in law took the kids front my trashy sister. thank god!!!

A home, with food, and the parent having a job. The obvious things that they need.
