SS Got in trouble for Bullying...Sooo we taught him a lesson...

Posted by   + Show Post

He's been having some behavioral issues lately, along with how he's treating others. Friday he gets a note sent home stating how rude he is to teachers, and how he was caught putting "Kick Me" signs on the back of children he was laughing at. ...Well, that just won't fly in this house...

He had to wear this on the back of his shirt the entire time we were in Walmart. He was mortified. Angry. Livid. ...and once he began to see the children around his age, and older pointing and laughing, but never saying anything to him, he realized how much it Hurt. It hurts to be laughed at, and gawked at all because someone else felt like dragging you down. It hurts to watch people laugh at you, yet never help you. We then explained to him, what he was feeling, was the EXACT sensation those othe rkids felt while he sat there laughing. He said he'd never forget that happened to him, that we did that. We said, "Good.  Those children will never forget  YOU bullied them in the 3rd grade because you wanted to be cool. Do you feel cool now?"

Lesson.Learned.

...and then we grounded him from his TV. You know...for good measure.

I think it's great you did that. He's old enough to know better.

I never really got picked on school, thankfully. I was friends with everyone, and I didn't get there from being mean to others. But I can still remember watching other kids get picked on, and never having the nerve to say anything to stop it. So if I can still remember THEM going through, surely they still remember it being done to them. And now as a parent of a step-son, and two little girls of my own, I couldn't bare to know they got made fun of b.c some kind wanted to be a punk. ...it hurt even more to realize it was my kid who was the punk. We have tried EVERYTHING with SS to get him to behave correctly, and nothing has worked thus far...until today, and that little sign. DH and I hesitated a good 5 minutes before getting out of the car, as to whether we would really do that to him, but we did it. And I've never seen more of a response from SS than I did today, so something got through. That's all I wanted. lol

Oh shut up, she didn't bully him! It's called tough love and teaching a life lesson, I bet if it was your kid bullying you would probably tell him its not nice and put him in a corner.

Good for you op. I commend you for standing up and being a parent :)

Well, we know where he learned the bullying from.

What would you have done?

To me op was parenting. At that age the sign was appropriate punishment.

Well I guess that was easier than actually parenting him!
