5 years ago I saw the aftermath of a horrific accident at work. A little boy fell from a ferris wheel at a carnival due to what was later determined to be "operater error." I vowed then and there my children would never ride a Ferris wheel. Over time that rule (for fairs & carnivals) became "if it leaves the ground, you're not on it." To some it seems extreme but as under regulated at those events are I refuse to risk my children's safety.
What unusual rules does our household have and why?

Not an actual rule but most people think it is strange that my ds 6 and my dd 4 have never been babysat by anyone.
