We didn't install ours until the kids were teenagers.   I will warn that the maintenance is a PITA and the chemicals are expensive.  If you don't stay on top of it your pool will get nasty quick.  Don't do it if your not prepared for a part time job maintaining the pool.

thats pretty neat

Quoting MedicMommy2:

My parents have a porch with a latching gate they lock when the kids are there and they have a chain lock on the top of the back door along with a wireless door alarm. They also have the floating ball alarm in the pool that sounds like a freaking air raid if someone or something falls in.

ETA: Both my 6 and 3 year old could swim by 2 and by 18 months we made them learn how to climb out while fully dressed.

Only way to it is through the back door which requires a key to unlock.

Get swim lessons for your kids.  My dd's learned to swim at 2. They sell a mesh fence that goes around your pool so the kids can't get near the water.  I love having a pool in my yard and the kids do also.

Put your kids in Infant Swim Resource! It's amazing!

We don't have a pool, but if we did I would put a fence around it

This with an alarm system or locks they cannot reach.

Quoting Anonymous:

Locked gate/fence. Teach them the rules. Teach them to swim early.
