If you can't afford diapers, you can't afford a baby.

I just read this online and thought this would be an interesting topic for discussion.
What do you think?
Nobody said you should have to. If you don't want to help don't! Its that easy. Just remember how judgemental you were if you fall on hard times. Imagine... You and your unlucky husband both get laid off and you don't have money for food let alone diapers. What would you do? It happens. We are going through a recession and the jobs just aren't there for everyone.
Quoting Anonymous:It is infuriating. What kills me is that these people really BELIEVE it is my responsibility to financially provide for their kids. Why should I care about their kids more than they do? Who is caring about my kids? Because the federal government sure as hell isn't going to give me a dime for my kids college education or anything else, and I wouldn't expect them to. I'm an able bodied person and can very well support myself and my own family. As they should.

My husband happened to "run off" on my daughter and me too. But before I had a child, I got a college degree, and had a career.
It's infuriating when I hear about women having children before they've put themselves into a position to be able to care for them.
P.S. Our country is BROKE. So these programs won't be around forever. All of my social security money will be long gone thanks to irresponsible mothers and the rest of the mooching class.

Maybe you should not judge. I am a good mother an for you to be an adult an bully another.. is jus evil. My son has wat he has cause I don't let my pride get the best of me... Things happened that were unfortunate for me an my son but he is a very happy an healthy baby because I raise him. I may not always be able to buy his diapers or food an I've accepted that.. you are not gonna tell me I'm a bad mother. Think wat you want... I have nothing to prove to ppl like you... My son knows I love him an that I do my very best.. I DON'T BEG! But yes thank you for buying my diapers when I can't afford it :0) good to kno good ppl are out there willing to help the ones who need it.
Quoting Anonymous:
Sorry but good mothers provide for their children. They don't stand around begging. The only reason you have any thing is because of people like me who pick up your slack.
You're welcome.

Wow.. I guess you think everyone is jus well off in money these days.. sorry but moms like me need those programs BECAUSE WE ARE IN NEED. thank you very much..My husband ran off when my son was jus a few weeks. I can't find him to divorce or get money from him. I depend on these programs... I don't have the resources to work full time, I have family to watch my son cause I can't afford daycare or a full time baby sitter.. how dare you. You have no idea wat moms like myself have been through.. I deserve this help an thank goodness your say can't take these programs away. They've been around for ever an will continue. I'm a very blessed person an I love my son more then anything an will continue to take the help to give him wat he needs cause I am a good mother.
Quoting Anonymous:
Yeah, but that's the thing. I don't want to pay for "programs who help moms like you". I'd much rather donate my money to people in need and let "moms like you" help yourself.

I can't afford diapers but I have them.. that's bs. Don't anyone tell me I don't need to have my son cause I've fallen into financial problems. I have family an friends who help... There are programs who help moms like me.
And both my husband and I work for ourselves so no chance of being laid off. He turns down work and offers on a monthly basis. That is what life is like when you educate yourself at our level.
No it doesn't happen to everyone.

That is true.
We could afford my son when I got pregnant. We both were working full time & we made decent money. We were not rich but we had money saved up.
I went oncall at my work and then matenity leave (my mistake. I should of just went on matenity leave). The day I went into labor my DH lost his job. I nearly bled out two weeks after my son and was put basically on bed rest. I was a CNA and could not work as a CNA until cleared. It took my DH a while to find a job. We depleted most our savings. Thankfully we had stocked up stuff before my son was born but. ..it was rough.

Generally true.
But shit happens. Maybe they could afford diapers and a baby lol but then someone got laid off or whatever and now they are struggling.
I try not to make huge blanketed judgements
Babies cost less than young children, who cost less than teenagers, who cost less than college students. It gets more expensive as they get older, not less.

Of course we will. It is called taxes. That is why the government sees it as an investment. My college education is not free. Stafford loans have to be paid back, though I do get a Pell Grant. Sorry you are sour grapes about it. I Don't use child care. He goes in the morning and I go at night. Do you feel entitled to sidewalks and interstates?
Edited: Also, I do not know what HUD is and do not use it. Sounds like maybe housing. We also have our own health insurance. We only use what we NEED!
Quoting Anonymous:
Then I assume you will pay the Government back the money you used or borrowed to get you in the position of earning, the FREE college you felt you were entitled too and Snap? medical?, HUD? Child care?, etc... You should if you make 170,000 ??????
Isn't it amazing how those who had to provide their own college at their own expense get fucked in the end, we paid our way by working 2-3 jobs and sacrificing and being frugal and you have it handed to you... The Government should force all the Government titt suckers, like youself and force you to pay back every cent. if thats the case, Shame on you.

<--------- was raised in a rich family... did not have anything handed to me on a silver platter---- went to private school from 6-12th grade at a blue ribbon school of excellence.
My mommy did not pay for me to go to college. I am now poor because mommy did not take care of me. You do not see me crying about it. I am 27, I have two kids who I cloth diaper and breastfeed, we do not eat meat, which saves a LOT of money. Hubby is in the National Guard and going to school to be an engineer and I am in nursing school. We are on gevernment assistance for SNAP benefits so we can feed our kids while we go try to make a better life for ourselves. The government sees people like me and my husband as an investment because when we are done with school between the two of us we will make about 170,000 a year.
