Do you have a weird last name?

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post

Feel free to go anon for this, if you don't want your last name out there.

I have a weird last name. I wish I didn't, because I ALWAYS have to spell it for people. And since it has letters that sound like other letters, like D and T and M I have to say "D, as in dog, T as in Turtle, M as in Mary". And people STILL butcher it! I hate it. I wish I could be a Smith or a Johnson...something that I wouldn't constantly have to spell out.

My last name? Ditmars. I'm willing to bet that not a single one of you share my last name. :) And there is not another person in this world that has the same first name/last name combination as me. At least not that I've found. So I guess that's at least one good thing - it's unique!

OMG!!! This is a featured post?!?! I've never had one of those - how cool!

My last name is Shropshire so yes it is a pretty uncommon name. It is pronounced exactly like it is spelled but people still have a hard time with it. And you throw in my first name which is also not very common and starts with an Sh and people REALLY have a hard time lol.

Rathe, pronounced Rathey. I substitute teach I just write on the white board "Mrs. Rathey" just so I don't have to deal with the questions

I'm divorced but when I was married, my last bane was Rusniak. Now that I'm back to my maiden name, I'm back to boring ol' Williams. At least I don't have to spell it out for people anymore. That got old quick.

My name given at birth
-- Whitney Amanda Hemlock.

My name given after adoption(14 mos)
-- Amanda Hope Heming.
(Everyone tried using two m's.. Hemming... No just one! Thanks!)

My legal name I go by(since 17)
-- Amanda Hope Waulk.
EVERYONE pronounces it Waugh-elk (smush the two names together while pronouncing it). Wtf? It's pronounced Walk... Like you walk down the street... The u is obviously silent (now being explained) and it drives me bonkers! I took my husband's name after getting married. :)

Noone wants my name, the Waulk's have A horrid reputation -_- sucks.... AND my credit is shot!
